Police lay armed robbery charge at Waterford

Police have charged a 21-year-old Bethania man following an armed robbery at a service station in Waterford yesterday.

Police will allege the man entered the store around midday and walked to the front counter before threatening a 52-year-old female store attendant with a knife.

The man then fled the store on foot with sum of cash.

Reports from members of the public led to police tracking the man to a nearby residence on Huntingdon Street at Bethania. He was taken into custody without incident shortly after 1pm.

He was charged with one count of armed robbery and will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

The store attendant was not injured in the incident.
