Police lay arson charge in Pialba, QLD

Detectives have charged a man following the alleged arson of a residential unit in Pialba last night.

At around 9.10pm July 31, emergency services were called to Hunter Street following reports a unit was on fire.

The unit, which was unoccupied at the time, was completely destroyed by the blaze.

A 38-year-old Torquay man was later charged with one count each of arson, serious assault and deprivation of liberty.

He will appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court today.

No one was injured during the fire.
