Police lay charges after Roxburgh Park fatal hit-run

Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) detectives have charged a man following a fatal hit-run collision in Roxburgh Park on Sunday.

Investigators understand a pedestrian was struck by a car on Silvester Parade and Pinnock Avenue about 11.15am.

It’s alleged the car did not stop and continued travelling east along Silvester Parade towards Roxburgh Park Drive.

The pedestrian, a 73-year-old man from Roxburgh Park, died at the scene.

A 20-year-old man from Roxburgh Park was arrested when he presented himself to police later that day.

He was interviewed by MCIU detectives before being charged with fail to stop and fail to render assistance.

The 20-year-old man from Roxburgh Park was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

MCIU detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
