Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) detectives have charged a man following a fatal crash in Somerville on Sunday 15 November.
It’s alleged a white sedan was traveling along Jones Road about 9.55pm when it left the road and crashed into a tree.
A 23-year-old Reservoir woman who was a passenger in the car died at the scene.
The driver and another passenger were taken to hospital with injuries.
Detectives later interviewed the driver, a 25-year-old man.
The Hastings man was charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, negligently causing serious injury and dangerous driving causing serious injury.
He was refused bail and will today at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
