Police lay charges – Domestic violence in Alice Springs 27 November

Northern Territory Police have charged a man after a domestic violence incident in Alice Spring’s yesterday.

Around 11:45am, police received reports that a 24-year-old man had allegedly rammed his vehicle into a premises on Flynn Drive, Gillen.

The man allegedly physically assaulted a 22-year-old female, who is known to him, while both were inside the parked vehicle. When she exited the vehicle and attempted to enter the residence, the man has allegedly driven it in her direction, striking a support pillar of the residence.

The man fled the scene and a short time later turned himself into police. He has since been charged with:

  • Recklessly endanger serious harm
  • Aggravated assault
  • Damage to property
  • Drive medium range
  • Armed with an offensive weapon

He was remanded overnight and will appear in the Alice Springs Local Court today.

Detectives from Southern Crime are investigating the incident and would urge anyone with information to make contact on 131 444.
