Police lay charges over drugs and Firearms in Darwin rural area

Northern Territory Police have arrested two associates of the Hells Angels Motor Cycle Gang as part of a National Gang Disruption Operation.

Working as part of National Task Force Morpheus, detectives from the Drugs and Organised Crime Division Gangs Taskforce executed search warrants in the Darwin rural area. The searches turned up a variety of unlicensed weapons, ammunition and drugs.

Two men were arrested and charged with:

  • Supply commercial quantity of Schedule 1 dangerous drug
  • Possess Schedule 2 dangerous drug
  • Possess firearms unlicensed
  • Possess ammunition unlicensed

They were remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Task Force Morpheus saw a police across Australia undertake a total of 28 warrants and gang disruption activities yesterday.

National Task Force Morpheus is a joint initiative of Australia and New Zealand law enforcement and Australian Commonwealth agencies targeting the crime associated with Outlaw Motor Cycle Gangs (OMCG).

The National Taskforce has been working cooperatively to prevent OMCG from establishing in our communities to reduce harm and ensure community safety and wellbeing in public spaces.
