A 19-year-old male has been charged early this morning in relation to a serious motor vehicle incident that occurred late on Saturday night in Alice Springs.
It is alleged the offender was driving a silver 2008 Mitsubishi Triton utility in the Gillen area just prior to 11:30pm with another 19-year-old male in the tray of the utility. The male in the tray was allegedly ejected and run over by the utility.
He was transported to the Alice Springs Hospital and subsequently airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition.
The 19-year-old offender was arrested and has been charged with:
- Recklessly Endanger Serious Harm
- Drive Medium Range Blood Alcohol Content
- Drive with a Prohibited Drug in Body (THC)
- Drive a Motor Vehicle Unlicensed
He will appear in the Alice Springs Local Court later today.
The matter remains under investigation by the Southern Investigations Division.
