Police lay charges – Sexual offences at Tennant Creek

Northern Territory Police have charged a 20-year-old male with a number of offences in Tennant Creek overnight.

Investigations uncovered the man had allegedly been stalking several women in Tennant Creek for several months and was in a relationship with a child under the age of 16.

The man has been charged with the following offences:

  • 2 x Unlawful stalking
  • 6 x Indecent dealings with a child under 16
  • 1 x Sexual relationship with child under 16
  • 1 x Possess prohibited firearm
  • 1 x Use carriage service to menace and harass
  • 1 x Use carriage service to procure a child under 16
  • 1 x Use carriage service to groom a child under 16
  • 1 x Use carriage Service for sexual activity with person under 16

He was remanded to appear in Tennant Creek Local Court on 29 August 2022.

Detective Sergeant Hayley Duncan said “Child sex offences are some of the most despicable offences in our society. NT Police will continue to investigate and prosecute anyone who commits these types of crimes.
