Police lay drug trafficking charge at Caloundra

Police have charged a man with 18 drug-related offences, including trafficking, following raids on the Sunshine Coast and Logan areas yesterday (October 10).

Detectives investigating methylamphetamine supply on the Sunshine Coast monitored and followed a vehicle of interest yesterday from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane with police intercepting the car on Logan Road, Eight Mile Plains around 2pm.

Police will allege a search of the vehicle located 300 grams of methylamphetamine hidden inside a false battery compartment, as well as cash, mobile phones and a used glass pipe.

The 33-year-old Golden Beach man was arrested and charged with 18 drug related offences including one count of trafficking dangerous drugs, six counts of supplying dangerous drugs and five counts of possessing dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine and cocaine).

He was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

Intelligence received from monitoring the vehicle yesterday lead police to properties in Kuraby and Golden Beach, with officers executing search warrants at these addresses yesterday.

It will be alleged a large quantity of cash ($269,000) was located at the Chesterfield Crescent, Kuraby property and drugs (methylamphetamine, amphetamine, cocaine, cannabis and steroids) and drug utensils were located during the search of the Taylor Avenue, Golden Beach property.
