Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal hit-run collision in Coburg last night.
It is understood a vehicle struck a man who was stood with his bike on Moreland Road about 6.20pm.
The man with the bike, who is yet to be formally identified, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
He sadly died in hospital this morning.
The driver of the car remains outstanding at this stage.
Detectives believe the vehicle involved was a white 2016 Audi Q5 SUV.
The vehicle will have visible damage to both the front and passenger side.
The investigation remains ongoing.
