Police make arrest – Aggravated robbery in Darwin City 30 August

Northern Territory Police have arrested three female youths after an assault on two women in Austin Lane yesterday afternoon.

A 21-year-old woman was returning to her vehicle when she was approached by the group, who allegedly assaulted her before attempting to steal her vehicle; however, they were unsuccessful. The group stole her handbag and continued walking when they approached a second woman, aged 55, and allegedly assaulted her.

A nearby witness came to the aid of the second woman, and the group left the scene on a bus. Police tracked the bus to Casuarina and arrested all three offenders, aged 11, 13 and 15 when they exited.

Serious Crime Squad Detectives are investigating the incidents.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew Kren said, “There were several witnesses to the assaults, and police would like to speak with them if they haven’t already made contact.

“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and should not be occurring to members of our community.”
