Police make arrests – Aggravated robbery in Alice Springs 5 May

Northern Territory Police have arrested two youths following an aggravated robbery in Larapinta this afternoon.

Shortly after midday, a resident heard glass being broken in a neighbour’s property and went to investigate, interrupting two youths inside the house. The youths threatened the neighbour before pushing past him and fleeing the scene, in possession of several stolen items.

Police arrived a short time later and located the alleged offenders nearby. A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old are in custody and police expect to charge each with:

  • Damage to property
  • Unlawful entry
  • Aggravated robbery

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Evan Kelly of Strike Force Viper said, “I would like commend the witness for alerting police in the first instance. His actions allowed Strike Force Viper and general duties members to quickly cordon the area and locate and arrest both offenders in possession of the stolen property.

“This is another great result that will prevent further property offences being committed in the area.”
