The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested two male youths aged 8 and 11 following an aggravated robbery in the Darwin CBD yesterday.
Around 11:50am, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that two male youths had entered a restaurant on Mitchell Street with their faces covered. It is alleged one of the youths produced a knife and demanded money from an employee.
The employee retreated to safety while the offenders allegedly removed the cash register and stole money before fleeing on foot.
It is alleged the offenders then attended a hotel on Cavenagh Street where they threatened a staff member with the knife and attempted to rummage through the reception desk before fleeing on foot.
Police CCTV operators tracked the pair’s movements, and they were arrested a short time later.
The 11-year-old was remanded and charged with aggravated robbery, and the 8-year-old was conveyed home into the care of a responsible adult.
