On Sunday the 16th of January 2022 at approximately 7pm police attended a single motor vehicle crash on the Bass Highway approximately 3km west of Deloraine. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 50-year-old man from Invermay died at the scene. The Bass Highway was closed for several hours whilst emergency services attended and investigated the crash. Speed and inattentiveness are believed to be contributing factors in the crash.
Police are seeking witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have seen a white Mazda 323 driving erratically on the Bass Highway, near Deloraine around 7pm on Sunday night.
