Police responding to fatal motor vehicle crash at Southern Outlet at Launceston

At 7:25pm on Wednesday 27th July 2022 police and emergency services attended a single vehicle crash involving an Orange Holden Commodore Sedan on the Midlands Highway (Southern Outlet), Launceston.

The driver and sole occupant of the Commodore was a 22 year old female from Hadspen. The female was extracted from the vehicle by emergency services but unfortunately died a short time later at the Launceston General Hospital as a result of her injuries sustained as a result of the crash.

Initial investigations indicate that the speed may have been a contributing factor. Tasmania Police remind motorist to take due care on Tasmanian roads especially with regards to ‘The Fatal Five’, with the deaths on our roads devastating and 2022 has certainly been a horror year for crash fatalities.

Tasmania Police ask that anyone who witnessed the crash, or who observed an Orange Holden Commodore Sedan driving in the Launceston CBD prior to the crash, to contact Northern Crash Investigation Services on 131444 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
