Police search for missing man after Castella crash

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing Shepparton man Corey.

The 24-year-old was last seen after crashing his car at the corner of the Melba Highway and Castella Road in Castella about 11am yesterday.

Police located his badly damaged black 2002 Subaru Forester on the side of the Melba Highway shortly before 12.30pm.

Officers tried to get call Corey to assist in having his car towed however were unable to make contact with him.

Officers have spoken to several witnesses who stopped to offer Corey assistance following the crash however he told them he was going to contact family and a tow truck to collect his car.

It’s not known how Corey left the area however police have confirmed he did not make contact with family members or a tow truck company and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

While Corey didn’t appear to have any obvious injuries from the crash, police and family are concerned he may have a head injury as his disappearance is out of character.

A search was conducted of the surrounding area yesterday by local police, the police Air Wing and State Emergency Service volunteers however no sign of Corey has been located.

Images of Corey have been released in the hope someone will come forward with information about his current whereabouts.

He is described as being 180cm tall with a thin build and brown straight hair.

He was last seen wearing black pants, a white top, a baseball cap and sunglasses.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or interacted with Corey following the crash that hasn’t already spoken with police.

The search will recommence this morning.
