Police seek information after scooter rider seriously injured in crash in Strathfield

A scooter rider has been seriously injured after a crash in Sydney’s Inner West overnight.

About 11.20pm (Sunday 24 January 2021), emergency services were called to the intersection of Homebush and Redmyre roads, Strathfield, following reports of a crash.

Officers from Auburn Police Area Command attended the scene and were told a Toyota Yaris and a Honda scooter were travelling in opposite directions on Homebush Road when they collided at a set of traffic lights.

The food delivery rider, a 20-year-old man, was ejected from his scooter.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for fractures to both legs and a suspected fractured pelvis, before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

The Toyota driver, a 27-year-old woman, was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative result.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
