Police seek information on Structure fire in Katherine

Northern Territory Police are calling for witnesses following a house fire in Katherine last night.

Just before 8:00 pm, police received reports of a house on fire in Coolibah Crescent. On arrival, police discovered the single story dwelling fully engulfed by flames. Police arrested a 25-year-old woman at the scene. Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service contained the fire and no other properties were damaged. A Fire Investigator has been dispatched from Darwin.

The woman remains in custody and is assisting police with inquiries.

Constable Kylie Dutton said, “It is a timely reminder for people to ensure that where smoke alarms are fitted, they’re tested regularly and have working batteries to avoid a tragic outcome.”
