Police shooting at Kangaroo Point, QLD

Police have closed River Terrace at Kangaroo Point after an officer was stabbed in the chin and a man shot by police this morning (September 7).

Preliminary information indicates police attended an address in River Terrace shortly after 11am in relation to a search warrant.

It will be alleged that soon after an officer was stabbed with a knife and a 38-year-old man shot in the abdomen by police.

The 38-year-old man has been transported to hospital in a critical condition.

The male senior constable was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene has been declared at the location and River Terrace is currently closed between Bell Street and Llewellyn Street and is expected to remain closed for some time.

There is no further information available at this time.

The Ethical Standards Command has commenced a critical incident investigation into the police response with oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
