Police treating fire as suspicious, Eastern Heights

Police are appealing for information from witnesses or anyone who has knowledge of a fire that occurred outside a Robertson Street, Eastern Heights (Ipswich) home between 11:00pm and 11:30pm on Friday night, February 22.

It appears the fire started at the fence line and as a result a large part of the fence was destroyed and damaged.

The 50-year-old occupant of the home, upon noticing the fire, has attempted to put it out and received burns to his legs as a result.

The man died overnight in hospital. Police and fire authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or has knowledge of the incident is urged to contact police.
