Police update 1: Comfit image release, Mungindi wounding

Detectives from St George Criminal Investigation Branch investing the wounding of a man on Sunday morning, June 14 at Mungindi have released a comfit image of a man who may be able to assist them with their investigations.

At around 11.30am the 30-year-old drover was mustering cattle on Noondoo Mungindi Road approximately 12 kilometres from the Queensland – New South Wales border when he spotted a man attempting to remove a ‘cattle ahead sign’.

The two men engaged in a verbal altercation which escalation into a physical confrontation during which time the drover was slashed in the cheek and the forearm with a knife that the man had retrieved from his nearby Ute.

The man- who is described as Caucasian, aged around 40, approximately 185cm tall with a slim build, blue eyes, shoulder length sandy blonde hair, and wearing a red flannelette shirt and blue jeans- returned to his Ute and drove off.

He was last seen driving towards the Carnarvon Highway with his vehicle described as a late 1990s or early 2000s model, white Toyota Hilux single cab utility.

The 30-year-old drover was treated for a non-life-threatening injury at the Mungindi Hospital.

The men are not known to each other.
