Police update 1: Stolen vehicle at Charlton

Police have charged a 34-year-old Avenell Heights man following an alleged stolen vehicle incident in Charlton yesterday, May 10.

It will be alleged around 5.30pm, a 79-year-old man was in his parked Toyota Landcruiser utility at the rear of a Warrego Highway service station when he was approached by another man.

The 34-year-old man allegedly dragged the man out of the Toyota Landcruiser and got into the vehicle and drove off.

The 79-year-old man sustained a head injury and was transported to St Vincent Hospital in a stable condition.

The 34-year-old man was located in Ranges Bridge today and taken into custody.

The Toyota Landcruiser was seized for forensic examination.

He has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, stealing, evasion and dangerous operation of a vehicle and is due before Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow, May 12.
