Police have charged two teenage males in relation to an alleged burglary and robbery in Cosgrove on May 19.
Just after midnight, it is alleged a group of unknown people forced entry to an Outcrop Rise address and entered the residence, stealing a blue Ford Ranger.
During the burglary, the resident of the home approached the group and was allegedly struck with machete multiple times, causing wounds to his hand and back.
The 28-year-old resident was transported to Townsville University Hospital to receive treatment for lacerations to his hand and back.
The group then allegedly decamped in the victim’s stolen Ford Ranger which was later used in dangerous operation of motor vehicle offences and fuel thefts.
On November 25, a 17-year-old Hermit Park male was charged with burglary, attempted robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He is due to appear in Townsville Childrens Court on December 1.
A 15-year-old male from Palm Island was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle in relation to the Cosgrove incident and attempted entry of a dwelling in relation to an incident at Balmoral Drive, Castle Hill on May 18. He is due to appear in Townsville Childrens Court on December 1.
Acting Inspector Dean Cavanagh said investigators had continued to work tirelessly behind the scenes until they achieved this result.
“The Townsville community will not tolerate this violent, offensive behaviour. Police are committed to finding those responsible for these actions and put them before the court.”
