Police update: Armed robbery at Maroochydore

Investigators from the Sunshine Coast Property Crime Task Force have charged two people following an armed robbery at Maroochydore on Sunday, August 11.

A 17-year-old boy was charged with one count each of armed robbery, unauthorised use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, evading police, possession of a dangerous drug and other drug related offences, as well as three counts of stealing.

An 18-year-old woman was charged with one count each of robbery, unauthorised use of a motor vehicle and evading police. She was also charged with two counts of stealing.

Another 13-year-old girl is in custody and is assisting police as they conduct further investigations.

The group allegedly flagged down a delivery driver on Primary School Court before producing a knife and demanding that the driver exit the vehicle. They then left the scene in the stolen vehicle.

The vehicle allegedly failed to stop when police attempted to intercept it on Nambour Road before it was found abandoned on Maroubra Street later that night.

The 18-year-old woman was released on conditional bail and is scheduled to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on September 2.
