Police update: Armed robbery at Ormeau

Police have released vision of three men as part of their investigation into the armed robbery of a tavern at Ormeau on Saturday, April 27.

Around 3.30am, three men approached the business on the corner of Halfway Drive and Pascoe Road. One was armed with a firearm and another with a machete.

One of the men discharged a firearm into the front glass-door allowing the trio to force entry.

The men then threatened a 23-year-old and 26-year-old male employees with the weapons and demanded money from the premises, before fleeing the scene with a sum of cash in a white 2018 Volkswagen Transporter van, which was reported stolen from Melbourne in December 2018.

No one was physically injured during the armed robbery.

Investigations indicate that around 3.00am, prior to the armed robbery, the stolen van travelled east along Darlington Drive, Yatala, in company with a stolen white 2012 Audi A1 sedan with a black roof. The Audi was reported stolen following a burglary on Moynihan Street, Ascot, on April 24.

Further, the van travelled along Stanmore Road and Beenleigh Beaudesert Road following the armed robbery, before it was located burned-out at Plunkett Road, Tamborine, around 4.00am.

It’s believed the three men then used the stolen Audi, which was last seen entering an estate on Yarrabilba Drive, Yarrabilba around 4.00am.

The men are described as Caucasian in appearance and had their faces covered during the incident.
