Police update: Charges – Aggravated assault – Nightcliff

Northern Territory Police have charged a 30-year-old man after a lengthy arrest incident in Nightcliff yesterday.

The man was wanted by police after allegedly seriously assaulting a woman who was known to him.

Over the course of the police cordon it will be alleged the man threw a number of sharp items at police, with attending officers able to avoid injury.

The man is currently at Palmerston Watch House and has since been charged with:

  • Aggravated assault x 2
  • Deprivation of liberty
  • Threats to kill
  • Contravene DVO x 6
  • Assault police x 2
  • Hinder police

He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

Detectives from the Domestic and Family Violence Unit are continuing to investigate the alleged assault of the female victim.
