Police update: Fatal shed fire at Pacific Haven, QLD

Detectives have released CCTV of a man they wish to identify as part of ongoing investigations into a fire at Pacific Haven last month that claimed the life of a 50-year-old man.

At around 1.35am on February 18, emergency services attended a fire in a small ‘donga’ style structure located on Pacific Haven Drive.

The residence was completed destroyed. A subsequent search located the body of a 50-year-old man who lived there, Damian Ramsay.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding Mr Ramsay’s death have revealed that a quantity of power tools were stolen from a shed situated around 60 metres from the residence between 2pm on February 17 and 1.35am on February 18.

Detectives are seeking information from the public regarding the theft of these tools in order to determine whether it is related to the fire, which has not yet been confirmed.

Police wish to speak with a man depicted in CCTV from the nearby town of Howard walking on Steley Street at 11.50pm on February 17.

Detectives are appealing for the man and the occupants of the vehicle he seen exiting on Steley Street to come forward, as well as anyone else with further information that may assist.

It is believed the man may be able to provide information which can assist in clarifying the circumstances leading up to the theft of the tools and fire.

Anyone with knowledge of the stolen tools pictured is also urged to contact police.
