Police update: Grevious bodily harm charges in Burleigh Heads, QLD

Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have today charged a man following investigations into the alleged grevious bodily harm of another man in Burleigh Heads in late September.

Around 1am on Sunday September 25, investigators will allege a 19-year-old Tweed Heads man and 23-year-old Palm Beach man were involved in a verbal argument outside a takeaway food outlet on the Gold Coast Highway.

Investigators will allege the 23-year-old Palm Beach man was punched in the face by the 19-year-old Tweed Heads man, who required surgery for a broken jaw and lost several teeth.

As a result of a recent media appeal, a 19-year-old Tweed Heads man surrendered himself into custody at Broadbeach Police Station earlier today.

He has arrested and charged with one count of Grievous Bodily Harm.

He has been granted police bail and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Friday November 4.
