Police update: Homicide investigation at Emerald

Emerald Criminal Investigation Branch detectives attached to Operation Victor Flag have today charged an 18-year-old man with murder following the death of a 58-year-old man in Emerald on Friday March 10.

Police will allege the older man was found unresponsive following a disturbance between the pair, who were known to each other, at a Loch Street address around 11pm.

Following investigations the younger man was taken into custody the night of the alleged homicide and was formally charged at the Emerald Police Station this afternoon.

He has been charged with one count of murder and has been denied police bail ahead of appearing in Emerald Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Investigations remain ongoing and detectives appeal to those known to the two men, who may have information which could assist investigations, to come forward.
