• 30% Decrease in domestic violence related offences

• 36% Decrease in youth disturbances

Acting Commander Shaun Gill said “Operation Drina continues to utilise multiple policing resources from across the territory to engage in highly proactive patrols in Alice Springs.

“Since its inception, we have seen 405 arrests, 647 Infringement notices issued, 752 individuals taken into protective custody and over 1970 litres of alcohol destroyed.

“The recent implementation of a 3 month trial of reduced alcohol trading hours for licenced premises has freed up our members to increase our proactive presence in the CBD further, and the results so far are very encouraging.

Strike Force Viper has also continued to target repeat property offenders with over 106 arrest files submitted since the start of February 2023 said Acting Commander Gill.

“Public safety is our highest priority and NT Police would like to thank the Alice Springs community for the incredible amount of support shown to our members as they go about their work.

“You can expect to see us out and about at licenced premises and known antisocial behaviour hotspots as we continue to focus on the dangerous impacts of alcohol in our community.”
