Police update: Operation Nano at Townsville

Townsville police have arrested 30 people and laid almost 150 charges as part of an ongoing operation targeting property crime offenders in the region.

In the past 24 hours, one adult was arrested on seven charges and two juveniles were arrested on seven charges for various property offences including enter with intent and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, as part of Operation Nano.

Acting Superintendent Brad Inskip said the 10-day operation was continuing to deliver encouraging results.

“We are pleased with the progress of the operation so far and we will continue to work relentlessly to prevent and disrupt property crime in Townsville,” Acting Superintendent Inskip said.

Since Operation Nano commenced on Thursday, January 20 in response to a spike in property crime, police have arrested 12 adults on 49 charges and 18 juveniles on 96 charges.
