A man has been charged following investigations into the alleged assault of a 50-year-old Dundowran Beach man at a Pialba tavern on Sunday, January 23.

The 50-year-old was transported to the Hervey Bay Hospital, then flown to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for treatment, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police established a crime scene and investigations established the location of a 26-year-old Emerald man who was taken into custody in Pialba yesterday (January 24).

The 26-year-old has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court later today.
