Police update: Stolen vehicle, firearm offences, dangerous operation Gold Coast

Two teenagers have been charged after an incident yesterday morning where police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device (TDD) at Coomera to stop an alleged stolen 4WD.

Police will allege the vehicle, stolen on the weekend from Upper Coomera, was involved in an incident on Reserve Road, Upper Coomera around 11pm on Tuesday night (August 18) in which the occupants pointed a suspected firearm at the driver of another vehicle.

The stolen 4WD was sighted driving dangerously along the Gateway Arterial near Boondall around 10.50am yesterday (August 19).

Pol Air tracked the vehicle which headed along the M1 to the Gold Coast where police successfully deployed the TDD at Foxwell Road at around 11.30am.

The 4WD continued for a short distance before allegedly hitting a car at Foxwell Road causing minor damage to that vehicle.

No one was injured in the incident.

A 15-year-old girl from Upper Coomera has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence, receiving tainted property, contravene a direction or requirement and obstruct police.

A 16-year-old boy from Pimpama has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property.

Investigations are ongoing.
