Police update: Traffic crash at Pimpama, QLD

Gold Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit detectives have charged two youths following a multivehicle traffic crash at Pimpama yesterday afternoon.

Investigators will allege the boys were part of group travelling in a stolen white 2023 Mazda Cx5 when it crashed into a Mini Cooper S southbound along the M1.

Police allege three other teenagers from the stolen vehicle fled the scene, who remain outstanding.

The two teenagers were transported to hospital, along with the female driver of the Mini. All sustained minor injuries only.

A 15-year-old Logan boy has been charged with one count of burglary, stealing and unlawful use of motorvehicle. He has been denied police bail ahead of an appearance in the Southport Childrens Court at a later date.

A 16-year-old Tanah Merah boy has been charged with one count of unlawful use of motorvehicle. He was granted police bail ahead of an appearance in the Southport Childrens Court at a later date.

The Mazda was allegedly stolen from a Cape Martin Lane, Varsity Lakes address just before midnight on Wednesday May 31.

The highway was closed for over an hour while police and emergency crews responded.

Detectives renew their appeal for witnesses or anyone with information or relevant dashcam vision to come forward.
