Policing operation targeting southern end at Gold Coast

With the upcoming school holidays Gold Coast police will be running an operation targeting anti-social behaviour and drinking in public places, particularly on Burleigh Hill.

The intelligence-driven operation, which commences tonight (Friday June 26), will see police patrolling popular locations like Burleigh Hill, Tallebudgera and Currumbin Hill areas.

Acting Senior Sergeant David Moore from Palm Beach police said the aim was to ensure public safety in the area and local open spaces can be freely enjoyed by everyone.

“With school holidays beginning police will continue to perform regular patrols and employ early detection and intervention strategies to maintain community safety.

“Any form of anti-social or irresponsible behaviour will not be tolerated by police who will immediately act without hesitation if detected.

“It is also important to remind the community that drinking in a public place like a park or the beach is an offence in Queensland and if detected by police, an on the spot fine of $133 can be issued.

We want residents and visitors to the Gold Coast to enjoy all the fun activities that are on offer but to remember to be respectful of others and responsible with your behaviour when out and about,” said Acting Senior Sergeant Moore.
