Port Hedland Attempted Murder Charge

South Hedland Detectives have charged a 53-year-old man in relation to an incident yesterday, Saturday 28 November 2020, in which a woman was seriously injured.
About 1:45pm several members of the public contacted WA Police Force to report an incident on Edgar Street, in which a woman was being attacked by a man armed with a weapon.
Upon arrival the attending officers located a 41-year-old woman with several serious injuries consistent with stab wounds. They provided emergency first aid until St John Ambulance arrived. The injured woman was taken by ambulance to Hedland Health Campus with serious abdominal, chest and head injuries.
Police subsequently attended a nearby residence on Edgar Street and it will be alleged a male occupant of the residence refused to comply with police requests to exit the residence. Officers continued to negotiate with the man, and about 2:45pm he was taken into custody without incident.
A 53-year-old man from Port Hedland, who is known to the victim, has been charged with ‘Attempted Unlawfully to Kill’. He was refused bail and is due to appear in the South Hedland Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday 30 November 2020.
