Jacinta Allan and Labor have been caught out repeatedly misrepresenting integrity experts in a desperate attempt to cover up the largest corruption scandal in Victoria’s history.
Premier Allan and Labor have sought to use reports and commentary of Geoffrey Watson SC, economist Saul Eslake and Professor David Hayward to deflect criticism and discredit findings that at least $15 billion of taxpayer money has been lost to corruption on the Big Build.
All three have now directly rebutted Labor’s mischaracterisations or called for an independent inquiry.
Geoffrey Watson SC has said “as far as I am concerned, you are deliberately misleading people..”
Economist Saul Eslake has said “frankly I had no idea it [his research] would be used in that way..”
Professor David Hayward has said: “I think an independent inquiry would be very good, and I don’t understand why it hasn’t happened already..”
Shadow Attorney-General, James Newbury, said: “Jacinta Allan and Labor have been caught out in their own web of lies.
“This is a desperate Premier that has knowingly misrepresented experts to talk down corruption and has been called out for doing so.
“Jacinta Allan will never fix the corruption she has presided over, the only way to clean up Victoria is to change the government.
“Only a future Liberal and Nationals Government will enforce the law, find the money, stop the rorts and establish a royal commission into CFMEU misconduct.”
