Primary Health Care Reform Leaders’ Summit

Australian Medical Association

AMA representatives attended the Primary Health Care Reform Leaders’ Summit convened by the Consumers Health Forum of Australia and Primary Health Network (PHN) Co-operative in early May.

Two hundred delegates from across the health sector, many working within PHNs, met to produce an action plan on primary care reform to deliver to the new Government.

The AMA will provide comment on the plan before its public release. Guided by the 10 Year Primary Health Care Plan, AMA will advocate for strengthening community based General Practices and supporting the work of GPs. The AMA is keen to see elements of our Modernise Medicare campaign reflected in the primary health action plan including investments in Voluntary Patient Enrolment, the Workplace Incentive Program and reform to primary care funding to reward quality. AMA has consistently called for reforms to strengthen general practices across Australia.
