Professional development grant program for building and construction industry

Elise Archer,Minister for Workplace Safety and Consumer Affairs

The Tasmanian Government is providing $300,000 to eligible organisations to support continuing professional development (CPD) for licence holders under the Occupational Licensing Act 2005.

Since 2016, licence holders have been required to undertake CPD activities annually throughout the term of their licence.

CPD is a key component in ensuring that licensed persons maintain and develop their technical knowledge and skills, particularly around changes to Australian Standards and new or emerging technologies.

The Continuing Professional Development Grants Program provides funding for initiatives which:

  • enhance the capacity of organisations to deliver CPD;
  • ensure available CPD activities are current and meet industry needs; and
  • improve the volume and scope of CPD activities which are available.

We know that industry associations play a critical role in providing CPD opportunities to their members and the industries they serve, and this funding will make it even easier to deliver these initiatives, to ensure employees are as safe as possible in the workplace.

Applications for grants close on 30 June 2022, and further information is available at www.cbos.tas.gov.au
