PSPA Emergency Declaration Declared At Clermont

Police have declared an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to a chemical spill on the Peak Downs Highway near Clermont this morning, 12 June.

Police were called to the Peak Downs Highway around 9am following reports of an ammonium nitrate powder spill from a truck.

A PSPA was subsequently declared due to hazardous spill and has an exclusion zone along the Peak Downs Highway between Gregory Developmental Road and Gowrie Crossing.

Both lanes of the Peak Downs Highway are expected to be closed for a number of hours, with light vehicle diversions in place through Kilcummin.

Motorists and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.
