Fawkner police are appealing for public assistance following an unlawful assault in Coburg last Thursday.
Investigators have been told a woman and man were in a stationary vehicle on Allen Street when they were approached by an unknown man on 5 March about 7.45pm.
The man became verbally aggressive towards the pair before reaching into the front passenger seat and assaulting the woman.
He then fled the scene on foot.
Investigators have released images of a man they believe will be able to assist with their enquiries.
He is perceived as being of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, 175 – 180cm tall, with a solid build and brown hair.
