On Wednesday, 27 November, 2019, three cast bronze sculptures were reported stolen from Mornington Park, Ellenbrook.

The sculptures, created by Perth artist, Philippa O’Brien, are estimated to have a total value of $45,000.

The artworks fall under a series called Layers of History, which feature still life representations of fruit.

The City of Swan is asking the public to come forward with any information they may have about the theft.

City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said he was deeply disappointed that anyone would steal public works of art that are designed for everyone’s enjoyment.

“Our City is a beautiful place to live, and public art is an important part of this,” he said.

“We are asking residents to let us know if they have seen the sculptures, so that we can get to the bottom of the matter.”

Pearce Ward Councillor Patty Jones said that she was shocked to discover the sculptures were missing during one of her walks.

“This is a serious matter and I am confident that the City and local police are doing everything they can to resolve it as soon as possible,” she said.

If you have any information, please call the City on 9267 9267 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
