Publique Eatery opens at PHIVE

A first-class new eatery has made Parramatta’s iconic PHIVE building its home from today.

From the same stable as nearby Ruse, Threefold Pastry and Harvey’s Hot Sandwiches, Publique Eatery will deliver a new casual and contemporary dining experience in the heart of the City.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Pierre Esber said Publique would build on PHIVE’s offering with both indoor and outdoor dining and takeaway available.

“We’ve always seen PHIVE as the City’s urban loungeroom – a place where our community can connect, collaborate and create,” Cr Esber said.

“We’re excited it will now also include a place people can catch up for coffee, grab a quick bite to take away or sit back and enjoy a meal with all the atmosphere of Parramatta Square.”

Pacific Venues group operations manager Martina Dokoza said the venue’s name was a nod to PHIVE’s French architect Manuelle Gautrand.

“We wanted to create a great public eatery but given its architecture, we thought it only fitting Public became Publique,” Ms Dokoza said.

“This is such an iconic building for Parramatta and we want to create a dining experience to match.

“We can’t wait to hear people making plans to ‘meet at Publique’.”

While it might have a French name, inside its design reflects the colours of the Australian bush – from the red terrazzo floor that runs throughout the ground floor of PHIVE to the terracotta buffet seating and eucalypt coloured bar.

Publique Eatery will operate from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, starting with take-away service. In-house dining will begin in the coming weeks.
