Businesses sharing their experience of coronavirus impacts is vital to planning economic recovery from the pandemic.
Corangamite Shire Council is calling for business operators to complete a survey that will improve understanding of the impacts and needs of local businesses.
CEO Andrew Mason said the information would help Council better advocate to Government for business support initiatives.
“This Pulse Check survey of the Shire’s business environment is a follow-up to one done in April,” Mr Mason said.
“We’ve had another lockdown since then and we want to get an accurate picture of where businesses are at now.”
Mr Mason said the survey would track how continuing impacts have changed local businesses’ needs over the past six months.
“What businesses needed early in the pandemic might be different to what they need now. The Pulse Check is designed to find out exactly what businesses need so we can develop new and innovative ways to help them bounce back.”
“Council has taken a number of steps to help businesses impacted by the pandemic recover quicker: stimulus grants, fee waivers, extending outdoor dining areas, and creating new temporary jobs to provide incomes and stimulate spending.
“Our Economic Development Team has also been helping businesses make the most of the numerous State and Federal stimulus packages.
“The pulse check will guide where we focus next.”
The survey, being administered by SED Advisory, has 20 questions and should take no longer than 10 minutes. Business names are not required, and all results will be aggregated.

Mr Mason invited business owners to contact Council’s Economic Development team for support sorting through the resources and information available at this time.
