Pursuit at Enfield, South Australia

Police have arrested a man and are looking for a second following a pursuit at Enfield this morning.

About 9.25am on Wednesday 13 May, police spotted a stolen white Mazda sedan on Devon Street. The Mazda had been stolen from a Hope Valley home on the weekend.

Police attempted to stop the car however the driver refused to pull over. The stolen car was pursued through the backstreets of Enfield before coming out onto Hampstead Road.

As the Mazda approached banked up traffic, it drove onto the wrong side of Hampstead Road and continued north to approach Grand Junction Road.

Spikes were deployed on Hampstead Road but the car avoided them and turned right on Grand Junction Road to travel east, still on the wrong side of the road, where it then side swiped a hatchback.

The Mazda continued east, driving in the bike lane to avoid oncoming traffic but collided with a Kia sedan. That car in turn collided with a Skoda.

At that time, the stolen car was abandoned by the occupants and two men ran off. One suspect was quickly arrested however the second suspect was last seen running north.

Cordons were set up around the Northfield area and Dog Operations Unit were brought in to assist with the search, however the second suspect could not be located.

Three occupants in the Kia were treated by ambulance officers and were taken to hospital for treatment of minor non-life threatening injuries.

Police are following positive lines of enquiry to locate the second suspect.

A 19-year-old man from Largs North was arrested and is currently being interviewed by police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
