Qld COVID-19 – Fri Jun 5: COVID SAFE plans / Qld vaccine / hardship payment

COVID SAFE plans have been approved for various industries and activities, a hardship payment is now available for workers in need, and a Queensland developed COVID-19 vaccine is ready for trial, as no new cases emerged again today.

There are three active cases, 1049 recovered and a total of 1060.

More customers can now attend some venues and premises after the Chief Health Officer approved plans for:

Hotels and clubs Field sports Fitness facilities

Food services Campgrounds Aquatic venues

Tourism Wine industry Aquatic sport

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said more plans would be approved.

Ms Palaszczuk today also announced a $1500 payment for workers who test positive for COVID-19 with no sick leave.

“Let’s hope it won’t be needed but it’s there as a hardship payment in case it does,” she said.

The industry plans and the hardship payment come as the Innovation Minister called for volunteers to take part in trials on a Queensland-developed COVID-19 vaccine next month.

A manufacturing deal has been signed after the state helped invest in the UQ vaccine.

  • COVID Safe Ambassadors are in the community now to keep Queenslanders up to date with the latest information about the relaxing of COVID-19 restrictions.

The Small Business Minister said they will help implement Stage 2 of easing restrictions.
