Raptor Squad officers have charged a man following an investigation into an alleged shooting on the Central Coast earlier this week.
About 6.15am on Wednesday 9 September 2026, emergency services were called to Lakedge Avenue, Berkeley Vale, after reports of a shooting.
Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District attended and found a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his hand and torso.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced by Tuggerah Lakes Detectives and the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad under Strike Force Vardeem.
About 8.45am yesterday (Thursday 10 September 2026), Raptor Squad officers arrested a 20-year-old man at Gosford train station. During a search, police allegedly located cocaine and cannabis in the man’s possession.
As inquiries continued, about 4.30pm yesterday, police executed a search warrant at a home in Penrith, where officers allegedly seized a Glock pistol, eight rounds of ammunition and other items relevant to their investigation.
The 20-year-old man was taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with:
- Shoot at with intent to murder
- Discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm
- Specially aggravated enter dwelling with intention to inflict grievous bodily harm
- Break and enter dwelling and inflict grievous bodily harm on any person
- Possess unregistered firearm-pistol
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
- Dishonestly interfere/copy unique identifier
- Possess prohibited drug (two counts)
- Drive while licence cancelled
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Local Court 6 today (Friday 11 September 2026).
