RCPT appeals for information after theft of more than 100 ewes at Ashford, NSW

Police are appealing for public assistance as investigations continue into the theft of more than 100 sheep from a property in the state’s north-west.

Investigators from the Rural Crime Prevention Team at Inverell received reports 132 Merino ewes heavy in lamb were missing from a property on the Inverell Road at Ashford.

The missing sheep are believed to have been stolen from the property sometime after July 2019 when the animals were shorn.

The missing sheep are described as Merino ewes, two to six years old, heavy in lamb and freshly shorn.

Some of the stock are station-bred, however the majority were purchased from various vendors over the last 18 months.

All sheep are fitted with NLIS devises of various colours, and PIC numbers on the tags include: NH510435, NE510616, NB020232, NK251717, NF020862 and NH590092.

Investigators from the Rural Crime Prevention Team at Inverell urge all stock owners to report stock theft promptly, even small numbers.
