Redbank Plains launches new Mobile Police Beat facility

In a significant move towards bolstering community safety and accessibility to law enforcement services, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) has unveiled its latest addition to the Mobile Police Beat (MPB) initiative in Redbank Plains. This state-of-the-art mobile police station, dubbed the “police station on wheels,” provides a high visibility police presence, which can be strategically deployed at short notice where needed most, responding to changes in crime, trends and community concerns.

One of the key advantages of the MPB is its ability to provide immediate access to police at large events and various operating environments, enabling rapid responses and targeted actions against specific crime issues, ensuring the safety and security of the community.

The new MPB in Redbank Plains is another addition to the ongoing rollout of MPBs as part of the QPS’ commitment to deliver 50 MPB facilities state-wide by 2027.

The MPB will service both Goodna and Springfield Stations and the District’s Tactical Crime Squad. It’s the second MPB to be deployed in the Ipswich District, with the first being successfully operational since April 2022.

Acting Superintendent Kylie Riggs explained the importance of integrating MPB’s into everyday policing emphasised the positive impact that these vehicles make to the community.

“Mobile Police Beats are the future of policing, and we’ve already witnessed their positive impact in reducing crime and building community confidence,” she said.

“This innovation empowers the QPS to strategically deploy a highly visible police presence at short notice, effectively addressing community needs.

“The QPS looks forward to the deployment of this new Mobile Police Beat in the community in the areas that a police presence is most needed.”
