Redfern RES charge five men over cocaine supply syndicate, NSW

Redfern RES investigators have charged five men as part of an ongoing investigation into the supply of cocaine through a ‘Dial-a-Dealer’ criminal syndicate operating across Sydney.

In September 2017, officers from Redfern Region Enforcement Squad (RES) established Strike Force Northrop to investigate and target the ongoing supply of cocaine within the Central Metropolitan Region.

Following their most recent inquiries, officers arrested two men – both aged 23 – following a vehicle stop near the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Henry Street, Ashfield, just before 1pm yesterday (Thursday 19 March 2020).

During a search of the vehicle, officers seized $1050 cash, as well as an amount of cocaine allegedly located on the male passenger.

A short time later, strike force investigators, with assistance from Bass Hills RES and the Dog Unit, executed a search warrant at a unit and garage on Alt Street, Ashfield.

During the searches, officers seized mobile phones, a knife and equipment consistent with the supply of prohibited drugs.

Police also seized an amount of cocaine, which will undergo further analysis.

The driver was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug, deal with property proceeds of crime and possess prohibited drug.

Police will allege the man was involved in the supply of cocaine through a ‘Dial-a-Dealer’ service operating across Sydney.

The Ashfield man was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Friday 20 March 2020).

The passenger was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice (FCAN) for possess prohibited drug. He will appear at court at a later date.

A 26-year-old man was arrested at a home in Campsie and charged with supply prohibited drug. He was refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Friday 20 March 2020).

A 19-year-old man was arrested at a home in Cabramatta and charged with supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis and four counts of supply prohibited drug. He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 8 April 2020.

A 44-year-old man was arrested at a unit in Rozelle and charged with supply prohibited drug. He was granted conditional bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 17 April 2020.

Since its inception in 2017, Strike Force Northrop investigators have charged 258 people with drug-related offences, including 165 for supply.

So far during the investigations, officers have seized more than 3.6kg of cocaine, 470 grams of MDMA, 167grams of cannabis and more than $980,000 cash.

Investigation under Strike Force Northrop are continuing.
